Your details, and what we do with them

Who is responsible

Shop on Radar is run by Przemysław Rakowski, a one-person business registered in Poland, tax number NIP 8971888854. That business is what data protection law calls the controller: the party answerable for your details.

Write to przemek.rakowski@gmail.com about anything on this page: a copy of what we hold, a correction, or removal. A person reads it, and there is no form to fill in first.

What we collect

From the waitlist form, when you choose to send it:

• Your name, whatever you would like to be called.
• Your email address.
• Your shop’s address, if you give one.
• Anything you wrote in the message box, if you wrote anything.
• Which language you were reading.
• That you ticked the consent box, and when.
• The page that sent you here, if any.

We also look at your shop

If you give us your shop’s address, we read your public pages, the same ones any shopper or search engine can open. We never log in, and we never see anything a visitor could not.

This is the point of asking: it means that when we open, we have something real to show you about your own shop rather than a sales email.

Why we may hold it

Because you said we may. The tick box is your consent, and it covers two things: emailing you about early access, and reading your shop’s public pages.

You can take that back whenever you like, by email. We will remove you from the list, and we will not need a reason. Withdrawing does not undo anything that already happened, but it stops everything after it.

Who else sees it

Nobody who does not have to. We do not sell the list, we do not share it, and we do not hand it to advertisers.

Two companies are involved, because they run the machinery underneath:

• Railway, who host this website and the database your details are kept in. Both sit in Amsterdam, inside the European Union. Like every web host, their servers also note the addresses of visiting computers for a short time.
• Google, and only if you agree to it: Google Analytics counts visits to this page. It is never given your name, your email address, your shop or your message.

How long we keep it

Until we open, or until we decide not to build this. If we abandon the idea, we delete the list rather than keep it for something else.

We cannot give you a date, because the date depends on how many people join. If you would rather not wait to find out, ask us to remove you and we will.

What you can ask for

You can ask to see what we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to have a copy in a portable form, or to withdraw your consent. One email does any of them.

If you think we have handled your details badly and we have not put it right, you can complain to a data protection authority. In Poland that is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO).

Cookies, and the choice you get

We would like to know how many people visit this page, because it tells us whether anyone wants what we are building. We use Google Analytics for that, and it sets cookies: small files in your browser that let it recognise a returning visitor.

It does not run until you agree. Nothing is loaded, and no cookie is set, unless you press Accept on the banner. Press Reject and the page works exactly the same; you will simply not be counted. You can change your mind either way from the link at the bottom of any page.

If you do accept, Google receives your computer’s address and what you looked at on this site. Google is an American company and your details may be handled outside Europe. We do not use any of it for advertising, we have not switched on Google’s advertising features, and we never see who you are, only how many.

Two other things are stored in your browser whatever you choose, because they are your own settings rather than anything about you: your Accept-or-Reject answer, and your choice of light or dark theme. Both stay on your device and neither is ever sent to us.

The typeface is served from our own server rather than Google’s. That is deliberate: loading a font from someone else would tell them you were here before you had agreed to anything.

If this page changes

The date at the top changes with it. If we ever start doing something materially different with your details, we will email the people on the list rather than quietly edit this page.
